Join us for three days in a mid-year prayer and fasting time. As we pray and fast, we believe that the Lord God will perform great and amazing things in our lives, families, churches, and nation. Here are three devotional lessons to help you in your prayer time for the next three days. In these lessons, we will study how the Holy Spirit worked in the lives of the Apostle Paul, the early church leaders, and believers.
DAY 2: Infilling AND Empowering
SCRIPTURES: Acts 19:1-12; Acts 10:44-48; Ephesians 5:15-20; 1 Corinthians 2:4,5; Isaiah 44:1-5
ACTS 19:5-6: “On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.”
Moving on to Ephesus, Paul found himself in one of the world’s greatest religious centers. He met some disciples who needed further instruction on the Christian faith. They believed in Jesus as the Messiah, but they did not understand the significance of His death and resurrection or the work of the Holy Spirit. So Paul explained how they need to believe in Christ and how they can receive the Holy Spirit.
Paul preached the Word of God in the synagogue for two years so that everyone living in the province of Asia—both Jews and Greeks—heard it. The Holy Spirit empowered him as he proclaimed the gospel. God did
unusual miracles through him so that towels and aprons that had touched his skin were taken to the sick and their diseases were cured and the evil spirits left them.
Most of us have a religious upbringing. We may know the basic facts of Christianity but most of us often miss out on the knowledge and experience of having a relationship with the true and living God. The Lord
can empower and enable us to help others understand and lead them to grow in their walk with God.
Have you received the fullness of the presence and power of the Holy Spirit?
In what tangible ways would you like the Holy Spirit to empower you in your daily life so that people will
notice that something is different with you?
Ask the Lord Jesus to baptize you with the Holy Spirit and to activate the spiritual gifts in your life
(2 Timothy 1:6,7; 1 Corinthians 12:1-11).
Pray for an opportunity to demonstrate the power of the Holy Spirit to someone who needs healing, deliverance, advice, or encouragement.
