Psalm 92: 4: “For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands. O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep. A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this. When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever: But thou, LORD, art most high for evermore. For, lo, thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil. Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me. The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. Adeboye Turns 68 Culled From INDEPENDENT NEWSPAPER
Enoch Adeboye, university lecturer, clergy, author and administrator, was born at Ifewara, now in Osun State on March 2, 1942. On Tuesday, he would attain 68.
Daddy GO, as he is popularly called by his church members, attended St. Stephen’s Anglican Primary School, Ifewara; Ilesha Grammar School both in Osun State. His primary and secondary education were almost curtailed due to the problem of funds both of which he underwent barefooted and in tears. Until he was 17, he never wore shoes. However, against all odds, he managed to graduate from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) in 1967 at the age of 25. Between 1967 and 1975 he had added two more degrees, an M.Sc in hydrodynamics and a Ph.D in applied mathematics.
He started his career as a mathematics teachers at Okeigbo Grammar School, Okeigbo, near Ondo and later Anglican Grammar School, Surulere, Lagos. He left teaching in the secondary schools for lectureship at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) and University of Lagos (UNILAG).
Adeboye joined the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) then presided over by the late Pastor Josiah Oluwafemi Akindayomi, through an invitation by his uncle. Realising he could have all the Ph.Ds in the world and still be on the losing side, he gave his life to Christ on July 29, 1973. Two years later, he was ordained a pastor in the church. Through the ordained will of God, after seven years of accepting Christ he was made the General Overseer of the church at the age of 38 precisely on January 21, 1981 after Akindayomi passed on.
He has written several Christian religious books ever since.
